Servicing By The Book

Every logbook service we run follows the schedule set by your vehicle's manufacturer. We stamp the book, use professional-grade oils and filters, and only fit parts that meet OEM specification. Under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, you have the right to use an independent workshop for logbook servicing without voiding your new car warranty — and we make sure that right is protected on every service we carry out.

A full diagnostic scan is included with every logbook service at Launceston Motorworks. You'll receive a written report of anything the computer flags across your vehicle's systems. We'll call or text if we find something, explain what it means in plain language and let you decide how you'd like to proceed.

When To Book

Know When You're Due

Not sure if your logbook service is due? The easiest way to check is in your vehicle's logbook — most manufacturers recommend servicing every 10,000 to 15,000 kilometres or every 12 months, whichever comes first.

If your car is due by distance but you haven't hit the kilometre mark yet, the time interval still applies. Other signs it's time to book include: your service light is on, you've noticed changes in how your car drives, or it's been more than a year since your last visit to a workshop. Staying on schedule protects your engine, keeps your warranty valid, and helps us catch small issues before they become expensive ones. Reach out to arrange a logbook service today.

Frequently asked

All You Need to Know

A logbook service follows the exact schedule in your manufacturer's handbook for that mileage or time interval. That covers engine oil and filter, brake and tyre inspection, fluid top-ups, filter replacements as scheduled, a computer diagnostics scan, and a full safety check on lights, wipers and battery. We tick off every item, stamp your book, and give you a written report of anything else we noticed.

No. Under Australian consumer law, you can have your new car serviced by any qualified mechanic without voiding the manufacturer's warranty, provided the service follows the logbook schedule and uses parts to the correct specification. We do exactly that. Bring your logbook with you and we will fill it in the same way a dealer would.

Follow whichever comes first — the kilometre interval or the time interval — set out in your handbook. For most passenger vehicles that is every 10,000 to 15,000 kilometres or every 12 months. Diesel and 4WD vehicles used for towing or heavy work usually need service more often. If you are not sure, bring the book in and we will map it out with you.
